作者简介：罗纳德·A.诺克斯（1888—1957），曼彻斯特主教之子，毕业于牛津大学。一九一七年加入天主教会，一九一九年起担任天主教神父，编译了“诺克斯版”《圣经》。一九二五年开始推理小说创作．先后发表了《陆桥谋杀案》、《三个水龙头》、《闸边足迹》、《筒仓陈尸》、《死亡依旧》、《双重反问》等推理小说，都是布局奇特、风格幽默的“游戏化”经典之作。同时，诺克斯非常注重推理小说理论研究，享有“福尔摩斯学之父”称号。一九二八年，他制定了“推理十诫”，明确规范了推理小说的创作规条，是推理小说史上先知式的人物。
